Frequently Asked Questions

What is the first step

Our first interaction will be a 20 minute phone call to discuss your needs and my approach.  During this phone call we will talk about your goals and expectations. It will provide us an opportunity to answer any questions that you may have about my work and therapy in general.  I will also share more about my therapeutic approach as it relates to you. Then moving forward, we would look at our availability and schedule an in person appointment.

How long is a therapy session

A therapy session is 53 minutes long.  I will also spend time independently to prepare for and document our time together.
Group sessions are 90 minutes long.

How will you know when therapy should conclude

During our first sessions we will discuss what our conclusion will look like for you.  We will identify goals, restorative benchmarks and most importantly reflect on what healing will look like from your perspective.  Each person is different, timelines are based on individual development, awareness, strength and feelings of readiness to finish counseling.

Do you offer sliding scale rates

I have a limited number of sliding scale slots available for those whose income would make the cost prohibitive.  For this kind of work to be effective, we will need to work consistently, often for an extended period of time.  Generally this means meeting at the same time each week to every other week.

Do you take insurance

I accept Kaiser Permanente and Premera plans.

Fees

Individual session - $175

Couple and Family session - $200/hr
